A. Tour in the town
1. At the centre of the town the visitor can admire the Primary School which is traditionally built of red stone and excellent architecture. It was built in 1937 with the expenses of the benefactor from Paramythia Sotirios Voulgaris. click to enlarge
2. A visit to the Clock which was made in 1750 by OPUS CREDUM DE POLIZ. Instead of a metal spring it has a thin rope which is reeled off by the weight of a tied stone. click to enlarge
3. The small Tower of Koulia is situated opposite the Clock, to the North. It is a building of the Vevetian Era which looks like a watch tower. click to enlarge
4. The Byzantine baths are situated in the settlement, North of the Church of Virgin Mary - Megali Ekklisia. click to enlarge
5. You can ascent to the top, at the castle of Ai - Donatos from where the view is magic. Under your feet lies the town and the plain of Paramytia which stretches until the river Aherondas. click to enlarge
6. The remains of Fotiki, in the area of "Liboni", which was a town at the peak of its power at the time, are situated very close to the town to the Southwest.
7. Worship to the cross - like roofed church of the Assumption - Virgin Mary of Parigoritria which was built in the 13th century. click to enlarge
8. Worship to the Cathedral of St Donatos at the centre of the town (where part of the relics of the Saint are kept), patron Saint of the district of Souli and the whole Prefecture. click to enlarge
B. The area around
Having Paramythia as a base one can visit:
1. The Monastery of Paganies (1652) dedicated to Virgin Mary, it is very well preserved in a very green landscape. It is situated at the right of the road to Ioannina, in the region of the village of Kallithea.

2. The village Pente Ekklisies - once named Osdina - with archeological interest. It is situated in a hill above the banks of Kalama and it is a very beautiful scenery. It is rumoured that the town was built during the years of Ioulianos (6th century). From the numerous Churches two of Taxiarhes and Virgin Mary (1609 - 1610) are preserved, with very nice religious paintings. The Monastery of Mihla is situated in the same village in an overgrown landscape. click to enlarge
3. The village of Polidroso at the boundaries of the Prefectures of Thesprotia - Ioannina. It is a very beautiful, traditional settlement which stretches from under the road to the banks of Kalamas with the beautiful bell-tower which was built in 1577 and the remarkable Cultural Museum.

4. The Castle of Velliani which belongs to the Classical Era is situated around 6 km South of Paramythia. It is situated above the settlement that has the same name, in a conspicuous, rocky position on the foot of Mount Korila. In its West side the walls which look "Cyclopean" are preserved in a good condition. click to enlarge
5. The Monastery of St Yannis of Prodromos above the village of Prodromi is built very close, to the west of the Castle. click to enlarge
6. Driving to Preveza, around 20 km from Paramythia the tourist comes across the Life-giver River Aherondas in the village of Glyki. Turning on the left of the river one comes across its springs, under the sharp rocks of Souli and is amazed by the wild beauty of the landscape which is full of green, deep-shaded plane trees and deep blue waters.

7. The Skala of Tzavelena - heroine of Souli - is on the right, over the springs. The ascent is relatively easy. The wild landscape, the din of the dead, the greenery around, the view to the plain, rest and at the same time seize with a feeling of awe the soul of the visitor. 8. The famous mountains of Souli which are a national challenge and invitation to the visitor rise almost 18 km from Glyki. The ascent is easy and short. The tourist, in front of the Parliament of Souli, will come across the wells, he will go uphill to St Donatos, to St Paraskevi and he will reach the hill of Kougi where the Monk Samuel and his few comrades sacrificed themselves in December, 1803. Opposite, he will come in view of the fort of Kiafa; we feel national stir and pride. Finally, he will enjoy the panoramic view of the plain of Fanari - plain of Aherondas.

C. Routes out of the boundaries of the Municipality
1. Aherondas is the natural boundary of the Prefectures of Thesprotia - Preveza. Following the flow of the river one reaches the traditional settlement of Mesopotamos where Nekromandio of the ancient inhabitants of the region is situated. Following the road to the coast one reaches the new settlement of Ammoudia. The river Aherondas flows very close to Ammoudia. (Prefecture of Preveza).

2. Coming back to the main road, not far away on the left, one comes across the endless beach of Loutsa and then the beach of Lygia (Pr. of Preveza).

3. Thirty five km from Paramythia it is worth visiting the beautiful historical town of Parga, with the famous fort, the wonderful beaches and its vast olive groves (Pr. of Preveza).

4. Twenty km Nortwest of Parga the tourist reaches to the balcony of the Ionian Sea, it is the settlement of Perdika built on a hill with a unique view to the islands of Paxi and Corfu with the beautiful central square and its olive groves (Community of Perdika - Pr. of Thesprotia).

5. Twelve km from Perdika having the dentelated coastline and the deep blue beaches on your left, you will find Syvota, a beautiful seaside settlement with remarkable tourist substructure. The beaches enchant the visitor (Pr. of Thesprotia).

6. Following the road to Igoumenitsa 12 km from Syvota the tourist comes across the settlement of Plataria, Seat of the Municipality of Syvota. The settlement has beautiful traditionally built buildings and offers remarkable tourist substructure. Many olive groves cover the area around. click to enlarge
7. In twelve km from Plataria and thirty seven from Paramythia one reaches Igoumenitsa, the capital of the Prefecture, Seat of the Municipality which has the same name and it is the western seaport of Epirus.

8. It is worth visiting the seaside settlement of Sagiada, close to the Greek - Albanian boarders. Some years ago it was an important port. click to enlarge
9. To return from Sagiada to Paramythia you have to cross the beautiful, traditional town of Filiates, Seat of the Municipality with the same name which has 45 Municipal districts and to cross the historical bridge of Kalamas. click to enlarge
